Fans of Motorola may have something to look forward to on December 1, 2009 as the phone manufacturer together with Verizon will supposedly be rolling out the Motorola Droid on that day. The Droid is being touted as the rival to Apple’s iPhone.

To avoid any confusion, the Droid is the name of the new model that was previously named Motorola Sholes and Motorola Tao. On the leading edge of mobile operating systems, the Droid is being equipped with Android 2.0 which will give users a similar feel of browsing on a PC.

The Motorola Droid is available on line as an unlocked cell phone consequently you can buy it across the world and use the cell phone with almost all sim based cell phone companies

Early reports have the smartphone being fitted with a powerful processor which will help users with their Flash and HTML viewing experience as well as the ability to playback enhanced 3D graphics, videos and load up websites twice as fast as other smartphones on the market. The Motorola Droid is also proud to be the first to have collaborated the design of this smartphone along with Google.

Hence, the Droid has the ability to search the entire phone, going deep into all its applications to give users the information that they need. In addition these search commands can be typed or voiced recognized searches.

When connected to your PC the Droid can sync over your entire existing Google Chrome bookmarks to your phone so you will always have your favorite websites at the palm of your hand. With Google as a deep contributor to the functions of the Droid, a point to point voice narrated GPS using Google Maps is also installed. You’ll never be lost on your adventures ever again.

Other fine points of the phone are still under way but a few of them have already hit the internet. These features include a large 3.7 inch WVGA, 480×854 pixel; 16:9 widescreen, a 5 megapixel digital still camera with Dual LED flash, 4x zoom and automatic focus as well as video recording, an unbelievably thin QWERTY keyboard that slides out of the unit and a pre-installed 16 GB microSD memory which can be expanded to 32 GB.

Why are there so many Android based phones and which one should you pick?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

There is a new phone that has come out to challenge the dominance of the IPhone and it is brought to you by Google. Well, they create the software for the phone, but the actual hardware is made by an assortment of different manufacturers. A couple of years ago, it was obvious that the IPhone was gaining a lions share of the smart phone market. It became a two way race between them and Rimm, who makes the ever popular blackberry line of phones. Whoever won this race, would be in control of how online media was consumed on the mobile phone. Google decided that they were not going to sit this one out. So they got together some of their best software engineers and put together a mobile phone operating system that was just as good as their competitors. This OS is known as Android.

Unlike Apple, who decided that they needed to control both the software side of making the phone and the hardware side, Google only deals with the software side. They offered an open sourced operating system named Android and allowed anyone to work on it. Whoever wanted to, could use the system for their own projects. This is why there are so many versions of the phone out in the public. Because each vendor has the opportunity to place the features that they want to support on the phone. Also, there have been several upgrades to the actual operating system itself, since the first genration of Android was released. Some of the upgrades have introduced major feature changes to the phone, while others have only been minor. It is up to each cell phone manufacturer to decide if they are going to upgrade or not. Most of them do, though some are faster than others. This is the one thing that you do not get with the IPhone, choice. There are a lot of choices in the Android world, so you might ask, which phone should you pick?

Even though there is a great deal of selection that you can pick with an Android based phone, they really are not that much different. The biggest difference that you will find is which one is using the latest version of the operating system. If you do not care about that and already like the features on a phone that you see, then you will be alright just picking that phone. If you want the latest features that the operating system provides, then you might want to go with a phone such as the Nexus One, or even the Droid. They have brought a lot of attention to themselves by being cutting edge. One would think that they would like to keep up that perception by having the latest technology. So if you are looking to keep ahead of the curve, then these two phones would be the one that I suggest out of the Android family line. You might also want to pay attention to the service provider of the particular phone that you pick. Make sure that it has good coverage in your area.

So hopefully, we have answered why there are so many Android phones and which one should you pick. If you’re not the type of person who cares about the latest feature, only the ones that make you happy, then you will have a wide assortment of phones to pick from. If you want the latest and greatest, then go with a Nexus One or Droid.

Motorola Driod update Review – Android 2.01 Firmware

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

A user who got the new Android 2.01 update on Monday reviews it for us. He has one phone that is using the android 2.0 system, and another one that got a firmware upgrade on 12/07/2009 to android’s new 2.01 system. Both the phones he’s using are Android enabled Droids built by HTC for Verizon.

The new Android operating system is faster and cooler than the old one, showing that as Android gets older, and more established, the system has the capability of doing anything and everything wireless. If you don’t have an android enabled phone, you might want to get one, along with a new Verizon or TMobile account the next time your cell phone plan is up for renewal.

Android Phones

Friday, January 9th, 2009

It will be interesting to watch the new Android platform over the next few years. Google put millions of dollars into the development of this wireless platform, and I’m pretty sure I know how they plan of getting their money back out of it.

Android has GPS built in capabilities, and google has spent the last few years really pushing the development of their local search programs. if you take those two programs and put them together, you have a brand new market of 2 billion worldwide cell phone users who are going to start getting local google ads sent to their cell phones.

Cell ads won’t be a bad thing, especially if your Google. Think about it, if you are driving down the street, and it’s almost lunch time, you could get a coupon from a pizza place flashed on your screen. If you go in and use it, then Google will get paid. Seriously folks, how much money can a company make if they have the market cornered on sending, on target, local, cell phone ads to consumers. If you don’t own Google stock, you might want to buy some now!
