8×8 Virtual Office Iphone App

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Packet8 came out with a new iPhone application for their Virtual Office program today. The new mobile app is “a WiFi-driven extension of the 8×8 Virtual Office VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) business phone service”.

Packet8’s new iPhone application “enables subscribers to utilize their Virtual Office phone number and service remotely from within any WiFi zone. “Virtual Office Mobile” essentially converts an iPhone or iPod Touch to a Virtual Office extension, equipped with the features, functionality and built-in cost savings of the powerful 8×8 Virtual Office hosted PBX phone service, including unlimited inbound and outbound domestic calling as well as overseas calling at competitive 8×8 international rates. Inbound calls to the Virtual Office extension can be retrieved from either an 8×8 IP desktop phone, the 8×8 Virtual Office Pro unified communications portal or the iPhone/iPod Touch mobile handset. Outbound calls can be made directly through the mobile handset just as with any extension on the Virtual Office service. Users can also perform functions such as extension dialing, call transfers, 3-way calling, and voicemail notification and retrieval.”

So, if you have 8×8’s Virtual Office service, and an iPhone, head on over to the Apple Application store and download the app today. You can read 8×8’s full press release at: 8×8.com

Cleartel’s Local Business Phone Service

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Cleartel has switch away from offering local phone service to residential customers, and is now only offering service to business customers only. The move is a good one for them, as they were loosing money on their rsidential customers, who tended to have bad debt issues.

I checked local service for a customer in Illinois this morning, and Cleartel came back with pretty good rates. Cleartel was offering two local business plans to choose from. The first plan offered unlimited local calling, plus 2 phone features, for $29.95 per month. The second plan let you add 2000 minutes of monthly long distance to the service to the first plan for only $10.00 per month more, for a total monthly rate of $39.95.

Check for local business phone service rates in your area at Cleartel’s Website.
